Lisa M. Burnett has a diverse array of practice experience that she now uses to help clients pursue

justice on appeal.

Ms. Burnett began her career while still a student at Harvard Law School, where she worked for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, assisting domestic violence victims in divorce and child custody cases.  She spent a summer externing with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, California.

After graduation she took a position at Foley Hoag LLP in Boston, where she represented clients on civil-rights, white-collar defense, and labor and employment matters. She later returned to California and worked as a staff attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Jean P. Rosenbluth before joining James & Associates. She also holds a PhD in musicology from Stanford University and has published articles on 19th century opera and the music of North Korea.

Ms. Burnett is admitted to practice in California and Massachusetts as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First and Ninth Circuits.

"I have been a physician and surgeon for three decades, am the author of two textbooks, 100 articles and 16 patents. Throughout my career I have been represented by more than two dozen nationally known senior lawyers from reputable firms.  I declare without any hesitation or reservation that attorney Lisa Burnett is second to none. Her grasp of the facts and nuances is meticulous and precise -- something a surgeon naturally appreciates -- and her writing skills are truly brilliant. My only regret is that I did not meet her sooner." - H.S.
